Harper Adams Future Farm is a commercial mixed farm in Shropshire, operating according to the principles of best practice agriculture. It is also a research and demonstration site that supports teaching, innovation, and collaboration across Harper Adams University.

Extending across around 500 hectares, the farm provides real-world context for students, researchers, and industry partners, with active enterprises in dairy, beef, sheep, pigs, and land-based systems. Decisions made here support both farm performance and wider sustainability goals.

Explore Our Enterprises

Monogastric Animals → Home to the award-winning Pig Unit, this sector features a 230-sow indoor farrow-to-finish system and a poultry unit with a capacity of up to 3,000 birds.

Ruminants → The Ruminants sector includes a multi-group dairy herd milked in a 40-point rotary parlour, a beef enterprise finishing British Blue-cross cattle, and a pedigree Lleyn flock rearing around 1,000 lambs annually.

Crops and Operations → The Crops and Operations sector manages over 400 hectares of arable and grassland, supporting livestock enterprises, research trials, and sustainable rotations across the farm.

Net-Zero by 2030

As part of Harper Adams University, Future Farm has set an ambitious goal to reach net-zero for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030. We are committed to driving practical change across the farm and sharing progress as we work towards this target.
